Frequently Asked Questions

Early Intervention (EI) is a system of services designed to support children from birth to age 3 (and sometimes up to age 6) who have developmental delays or disabilities. These services aim to help children develop essential life skills and prepare for school success.

Children from birth to age 3 who have or are at risk for developmental delays or disabilities may qualify. Children may qualify over the age of 3 if they are demonstrating multiple areas of delay. Eligibility is determined through a formal evaluation.

A multidisciplinary evaluation will be conducted to assess:

  • Physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and adaptive development.
  • Medical history and clinical observations.
  • Informed clinical opinion when standard comparisons are difficult

Services are tailored to each child’s developmental needs. Depending on the child’s needs, services may include:

  • Speech, physical, or occupational therapy
  • Family training
  • Service Coordination
  • Developmental assessments and home visits
  • Assistive technology
  • Autism screening and testing
  • Audiology and vision services

An IFSP, or Individualized Family Service Plan, is a written plan developed for infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) who qualify for early intervention services due to developmental delays or disabilities. It’s designed to support both the child and their family by outlining goals and services tailored to their unique needs.

All Baby-net services, including evaluations and therapies, are provided at no cost to families.
